Dr. E.F. (Eric) van Furth 
Eric van Furth (1958), klinisch psycholoog, is als directeur behandelzaken verbonden aan het Centrum Eetstoornissen Ursula (CEU) te Leidschendam, onderdeel van de GGZ organisatie Rivierduinen. Hij werkt sinds 1984 met cliënten met een eetstoornis. Tot medio 1991 was hij verbonden aan de sectie gezinstherapie van de afdeling Kinder- en Jeugdpsychiatrie van het Universitair Medisch Centrum Utrecht. In dat jaar promoveerde hij op een onderzoek naar de invloed van de ouderlijke attitude op het voortbestaan van eetstoornissen bij jeugdigen. Hij was de laatste voorzitter van de werkgroep Multidisciplinaire Richtlijn Eetstoornissen (in maart 2006 verschenen). In 2006-2007 was hij President van de Academy for Eating Disorders, een internationale organisatie van professionals met wereldwijd ongeveer 1.400 leden.

Het Centrum Eetstoornissen Ursula (CEU) kent twee hoofdtaken: behandeling van cliënten met een eetstoornis (bijvoorbeeld anorexia- en boulimia nervosa) en wetenschappelijk onderzoek. Het CEU heeft 48 klinische bedden, 40 deeltijd 'stoelen' en een grote gespecialiseerde polikliniek. Bij het Centrum werken ongeveer 115 medewerkers. Van Furth is als projectleider en co-promotor betrokken bij epidemiologisch en genetisch onderzoek, maar ook bij onderzoek naar de kwaliteit en effectiviteit van behandeling. Hij is lid van de editorial board van de belangrijkste wetenschappelijke tijdschriften op het gebied van eetstoornissen.
